In this section you will find frequently asked questions about the Hegel H200. If you can not find an answer to your question, please ask your Hegel dealer, your national distributor or send us an e-mail: info@hegel.com

Where can I buy the Hegel H200?
H200 is available in many countries. Please use the "How to buy" button to find the dealer locations in your country.

Is the Hegel H200 available in different colours?
The H200 is available in two different colours: The standard "Pearl silver" colour and in completely Black colour. The Front panel finish is made by blasting the solid Aluminium front panel with tiny glass particles and anodizing the surface. The top cover finish is brushed anodized aluminium.

Can the H200 input source selector and volume level be controlled from the remote control?
The H200 source selector and volume level can be controlled from the remote control RC2.

How many inputs does the H200 have?

The H200 has got four different pairs of stereo inputs: CD, Balanced, Aux and Home Theatre. The balanced inputs are using XLR connectors and the CD, Aux and Home Theatre inputs are using RCA connectors.

Can the H200 be used in a surround sound system?

The H200 has got a stereo "Home Theatre" input that can be used with a surround sound system. By selecting Home Theatre from the remote control or from the source selector the H200 can be used as a power amplifier for the main front speakers of a Home Theatre setup. When selecting the Home Theatre input the volume is automatically faded up to the maximum volume setting 99, making the H200 a powerful Home Theatre power amplifier.

Which CD-player should be used together with  the Hegel H200 ?
The sound quality of the H200 is so high that we recommend to use it together with a Hegel CDP4A CD-player. In this way you will be able to experience the full potential of the H200. Of course the H200 and the CDP2A is also a very good combination. All the different Hegel units have got a neutral sound signature, so they can of course also be used together with high quality audio units from other manufacturers.

What is the difference between the H200 and the P2A mk2  / H2A mk2 combination?

The H200  is using a basic version of the P2A mk2 active preamp stage, combined with a H2A mk2 power amp stage. The H200 is using the new improved version of the patented SoundEngine amplifier technology. With two separate cabinets the P2A mk2 / H2A mk2 has got a larger physical distance and more shielding between the high level speaker output currents and the sensitive preamp stages. This gives the H2A mk2 / P2A mk2 combination an even higher resolution and dynamic range than the H200. The H200 has got a "Home Theatre" input that can be used with a surround sound system.

Is the Hegel H200 using an active preamp stage?

The preamp stage of the H200 is using a high quality active preamp stage based upon the P2Amk2 preamp. This solution is a better solution than the passive volume stages normally found in integrated amplifiers.

Is the Hegel H200 true balanced?
The balanced inputs of the H200 are as all the other Hegel units using true electronically balanced inputs.

Is the patented SoundEngine amplifier technology used in the Hegel H200?

The H200 is using the new and improved version of the patented Hegel SoundEngine technology, exclusively used by Hegel. The power amplifier part of the H200 is based upon technology from the Hegel H2A mk2 and H4A mk2 power amplifiers.

What is the power consumption of the Hegel H200?
Because of the SoundEngine technology used in the H200, there is no need to run a high bias current in the output stage of the amplifier. The H200  will as all the other Hegel amplifiers use a minimum of power in standby mode when it is not playing music. The H200 will use about 60W of power in standby mode, the same as a normal light bulb.
