Is the Hegel CDP4A available in
different colors?
The Hegel products are available in the standard "Pearl silver" colour. The finish is made
by blasting the solid Aluminium front panel with tiny glass particles and
anodizing the surface. Knobs, side panels and
top cover are brushed anodized silver.
Can the Hegel CDP4A be used with other
amplifiers than the Hegel H4A and the P4A?
All the different Hegel units has got a neutral sound signature, so that they
can be used together with other high quality audio units from different
manufacturers. However we recommend you
to listen to a combination of a CDP4A and a H4A / P4A, since this combination has got
a very high performance.
Is the Hegel CDP4A true balanced?
The balanced and unbalanced outputs of the CDP4A are using true
electronically balanced signal processing from the CD-drive and to the analog outputs.
The unbalanced outputs are converted to a single ended signal directly from
the balanced outputs, keeping the signal in the balanced domain as long as
possible.
What is the difference between the CDP4A and the CDP2A?
The CDP4A is using a much more advanced audio board than the CDP2A.The dynamic
range, linearity and the smoothness is better for the CDP4A than for the
CDP2A.
Is the CDP4A using upsampling?
The CDP4A is using syncronised upsampling together with a
highly accurate master clock circuit. The master reference clock has
got a clock jitter less than 14ps.
How can I use the pause function when playing a CD?
With the CDP4A playing a CD the pause function can be activated by pressing the
play button on the CDP4A or the play button on the remote control. The pause function is
indicated by a flashing frozen time display.
To restart the track from pause, press play once more.
What kind of CD-drive is used in the CDP4A?
The CD-drive is a Hegel design, based upon the Philips VAM1202 laser unit and a
Philips CD-loader. The CD-servo board is custom designed by Hegel.
Can the CDP4A play CD-R discs?
The CDP4A will play CD-R discs within the Red Book Specifications, but
will not play MP3 files.
